At Kaleidoscope Kids, we know choosing overnight childcare can feel like a big step. It's not something you find everywhere, and we get a lot of questions from parents trying to work out if it's the right fit. Our Redbank overnight care guide walks through what a night here actually looks like. This page answers the specific questions parents ask most.
Our Redbank centre is located at 57 Brisbane Road, Redbank, and it's one of only two Kaleidoscope Kids locations offering overnight care, alongside our Rothwell centre. Whether you're a shift worker, working nights, or just need some extra support, we're here to help, quietly and without fuss.
Frequently asked questions
Do the kids actually sleep?
Yes, they do. Our overnight childcare is set up with calm, cosy sleep rooms that help children settle down for the night. We follow each child's usual bedtime routine as closely as possible, which makes them feel more at home. Some kids fall asleep quickly, while others take a little longer, and that's totally fine. We make it peaceful and unhurried.
Is there a bedtime routine?
Yes, we follow a consistent bedtime routine to help children feel safe, settled and ready for sleep.
What happens if my child wakes up during the night?
Our staff are available and awake at all times. They conduct sleep checks every 10 minutes and will comfort and settle your child back to sleep if needed.
Is someone awake all night to check on the kids?
Yes. Our team is awake and actively monitoring all children throughout the night. Sleep checks are performed every 10 minutes and are logged in real time with time stamps.
How many carers are there overnight?
We maintain required staff to child ratios at all times. A minimum of two carers are always present during overnight care.
What security measures are in place?
We have CCTV surveillance throughout the centre, secure entry controls to prevent unauthorised access, and locked gates to restrict access to the car park.
What do the kids eat at night?
Dinner is freshly prepared each day by our chef. The menu is varied, nutritious and tailored to meet cultural and dietary requirements.
Can I pack my child's food instead?
We don't allow external food, but we're happy to collaborate with families to design a menu that your child will enjoy and that meets their needs.
What if my child has a medical condition or needs medication overnight?
We can administer medication if required. If your child has a medical condition, we'll provide you with the necessary forms prior to enrolment. This helps us ensure a safe environment and enables staff to respond appropriately to any medical needs.
Can siblings stay in the same room?
Yes, absolutely. We understand the comfort that family groupings bring, especially during overnight care.
What should I pack?
Just a set of cot sheets and a light blanket, everything else is taken care of.
Can I call during the night to check in?
Absolutely. All check in calls are welcome at any time. We also use the Early Works app, which parents can log into to receive real time updates about their child's evening.
